\u201cSimply Irresistible\u201d are the lyrics that South African born, Nic Billington, belted out whilst watching a Robert Palmer music video at the tender age of 6 years old. At that very moment, Nic knew he was destined to be a pop star. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After relocating with his family from Scotland to South Africa in 1994, Nic often ventured out on his own to indulge in his favourite past time – music. He spent his younger days with his notebook and pen, scribbling lyrics while laying down melodies on his tape recorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the age of 13, Nic had already written an array of pop songs and was involved in the school choir and later became one half of the duo, The Verdict. The Verdict enjoyed popular success with their combination of dance and house music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2006, Nic was in the employ of an independent record company, where he spent time learning the trivia of the music industry. He soon began networking with producers, using his business acumen to slowly build the foundations of his career as a serious music artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovered by Britney<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Determined to forge ahead in the music industry, Nic decided to take a different approach when it came to reaching fame. His unique covers of pop music videos on YouTube earned him a large following worldwide, reaching over a quarter of a million views. At the end of 2008, Britney Spears herself featured one of his covers on her official website, www.britneyspears.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fame in South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2009, Nic was selected as one of Cleo magazine\u2019s top 50 eligible bachelors. He has also received vast media coverage in newspapers and magazines throughout South Africa including, People Magazine, Teenzone, The Sunday Times and Get It.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nic grasped the opportunity to have his songs feature on compilations albums, namely \u201cTrevor Williams Vol 2\u201d, \u201cHot Summer Mix 2010\u201d and \u201cHot Summer Mix Vol. 12\u201d. Popular South African DJ Roxxi, invited Nic to feature alongside Flash Republic\u2019s, Craig Massiv, on her electro funk debut, \u201cAway\u201d. The single charted on numerous radio stations and took the number 1 position on East Coast Radio in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nic was soon approached by an A&R scout and referred to Clango Media, an independent record label. Together, Nic and his producer began working on his highly anticipated debut album \u201cOverload\u201d. During this time Nic was featured as one of People Magazines \u201cHotties of 2011\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiss<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2011, Nic released a cover of Prince\u2019s \u201cKiss\u201d which was accompanied by a sleek futuristic-looking music video. \u201cKiss\u201d received praise from critics for its \u201chigh standard\u201d. After a preview of the music video, Colin Roopnarain from the Sunday Tribune wrote: \u201cIf he\u2019s not world-famous by the time he\u2019s 30, I\u2019ll eat my hat\u201d. \u201cKiss\u201d received huge radio airplay on East Coast Radio, Good Hope FM, Red Cap Radio and East Rand Stereo. The music video was a favourite on SABC 3\u2019s \u201cSound Check\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overload<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Released in 2013, Nic\u2019s debut album entitled \u201cOverload\u201d can be described as modern pop, electro and dance music, infused with retro undertones. \u201cOverload\u201d garnered the singles \u201cLove Bound\u201d, \u201cKiss\u201d and the title single \u201cOverload\u201d all of which charted in the top 10 in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dark Horse <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2021, Nic made the move to London to introduce his music to new markets. His highly visual music videos for singles \u201cWithout A Warning\u201d, \u201cYou Get Me High\u201d and \u201cHomesick\u201d caught the attention of the pop blogosphere and social media seeing strong live support in London and Manchester with opening slots for pop mavens Bright Light Bright Light and Myylo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nic has partnered with EQ Music for management to expand his global reach and will be playing his first American shows in Miami and New York later this year in support of his sophomore album \u201cDark Horse\u201d. The album\u2019s lead single \u201cDopamine\u201d will be serviced to UK and US DJs. \u201cDark Horse\u201d also features thrilling dark pop track \u201cSlasher\u201d and intimate power ballad \u201cGoodbye\u201d which is dedicated to his late grandmother. His cover of Billy Idol\u2019s \u201cWhite Wedding\u201d is sure to turn some heads with its sexy music video whilst re-introducing Nic\u2019s last few singles to new eyes and ears outside of South Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
